Validating Grip with Live Fire

Validate Your Grip with Live Fire

We can only, and I stress ONLY, validate our grip with live fire.  The accelerating bullet has an equal and opposite force on the shooter.

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””][text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left”]There is no other possible recoil simulation system other than actually shooting live rounds. The force upon our body is an equal and opposite force based on the acceleration of the mass of the bullet. Our bone alignment and correct muscular contraction must to be engaged to the pistol to return the muzzle down to a consistent location.

We have to shoot live fire to ensure we are gripping the gun correctly. This video shows the simple rapid shot drill and provides queuing points to execute the drill to get maximum benefit. You do not want to shoot slow in this drill slow. You have to shoot rapidly to determine how the grip naturally returns the muzzle down.[/text_block][/op_liveeditor_element]

Next Up: Filming Live Fire Drills

[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_size=”24″ width=”940″]Keep watching and you will earn a grip SIRTificate.[/text_block]
[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left”]

  • All guns are always loaded.  Treat the SIRT like a live fire gun.
  • Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
  • Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
  • Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.  Have a good ballistic backstop when training.  So just in case some how a live fire gun got in your training space, a bullet will be caught where you are training.
