Grip Establishment From Various Gun Locations

One way to have the strong hand high on the pistol is to grab the pistol with thumbs over the sights. This works particularly well when the pistol is tight to your body such as a concealed holster.

Generally speaking, our techniques must be robust. All of our techniques cannot be “finicky”, meaning, only working in a very sterile and prescribed set of circumstances. In the bigger picture, we always have to think about how our techniques can be employed in different, and diverse circumstances.   • All guns are always loaded.  Treat the SIRT like a live fire gun.
  • Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
  • Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
  • Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.  Have a good ballistic backstop when training.  So just in case some how a live fire gun got in your training space, a bullet will be caught where you are training.
